Recipe: Smokey Salmon Pizza

GMF-Recipes7Summary: What to do with some leftover smoked salmon? Tonight was pure inspiration. The salmon was marinated in soy sauce, so I decided to go with an asian flair and make a new creation that blew my mind. Here it goes:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Spanish Onion, Diced
  • 1/2 Green Bell Pepper, Julianned
  • Raw Pizza Crust (I get a fresh dough ball from Partners Pizza in Tyrone)
  • Smoked Salmon (about 1/2 pound)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp ranch dressing
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 2 tsp mirin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • Optional: crumbled smoked bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven or grill to 400 degrees.
  2. Saute a small amount of diced onion with the julianned bell pepper. Once softened, add a little soy sauce for flavor. Reduce heat and then remove.
  3. In a small sauce pan, add soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, honey, crushed red pepper, garlic, garlic powder, ginger powder and let reduce until thickened.
  4. Roll out pizza dough and use fork to pierce dough every 2-3 inches to keep bubbles from forming. Brush light amount of ranch dressing on top of crust. Add salmon and bacon. Add peppers and diced onions. Add Mozzarella cheese. Drizzle asian sauce over top of pizza. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top.
  5. Place pizza on heated pizza stone in oven or on grill and cook for approximately 15 minutes until crust meets desired crispness. Slice and serve.

I’m thinking about patenting this one. Use leftover asian sauce to dip crust….
